MP3 file to demonstrate the effectiveness of the KNB3 Noise Blanker  MP3 (484kB)

This audio file was made directly off the K3 (PC Line Out jack), on February 22, 2008.
It was made on 15m and 17m using a fairly wide bandwidth to demonstrate the
worst-case noise blanking abilities of the K3's noise blanker.

A pretty nice carrying case for my K3...
New: 16 Dec 2009

I found out about this carrying case thanks to Dave Olean, K1WHS, when he
posted the info to the Elecraft Web Site a while back.  The case is available from:
http://store.colemans.com the product number is 138401.
For what it might be worth, I have a PDF of the (few) changes I had to make to it
to allow the K3 to fit quite nicely.

External (Dual) Speaker Splitter for the K3 (135 kB PDF, 09/29/2009)

This device allows you to plug a single cable into the (stereo) SPKR jack on the back of your K3
and to then plug in separate external speakers, terminated with either mono or stereo plugs. It
helps to reduce the wiring 'busyness' right at the back panel of the K3 and reduces the chances
of possible (thought probably slight) damage to the K3's AF output amps by accidently plugging
a monaural plug into the stereo output while the AF Gain is cranked up, regardless of whether
your K3 has had the "Mono Plug In Stereo SPKR Jack Protection" Mods or not.

This is NOT a kit... heck, I'm not even offering PC boards. BUT I will be happy to e-mail you the
PC board layout info if you wish to make your own PC board, or if you can con someone else
into making one for you. NO CHARGE for the documentation. If you'd like to receive black/white
transparency of the PC board image, for making your own boards via the photo-etch process,
I will be happy to provide the images printed on clear acetate, for $1 (USD), post-paid to your
stateside mailbox, or for $2 (USD) to a DX address... I would like to at least cover my postage
expenses.  I still prefer personal check, or CASH to PayPal, but I realize that many much prefer
to pay via PayPal, so if you must use PayPal, make the payment to n0ss@arrl.net.

Please e-Mail me before you place an order.

NOTE:  Riley accessories no longer offers pre-wired 9-Pin
262-degree DIN plugs.  They do, however still stock
the appropriate 8-pin 262-degree DIN plug (WITHOUT
             wires attached).
Other than you having to wire your
own 8-pin plug, the documentation below is still
             viable.

NEW  04/21/2010)

This document describes an easy fix for the problem caused by
the mounting of the KANT3/KAT3 in the K3, and the way it is
secured to the chassis.  The problem exists as a result of having
two (2) threaded devices in series as part of the mounting hard-
ware for the KANT3/KAT3 within the K3.
